Kenneth Johnson creates unique fine art photographs related to identity and psychological behavior. His work is aimed at mental health care professionals, socially conscious fine art collectors, and those seeking to raise awareness of mental health issues and promote artwork in the Richmond area.

Originally from Monroe, Louisiana, photographer Kenneth Johnson currently resides in Richmond, Virginia. Johnson creates images that explores photography’s role in the representation and treatment of those living with mental illness. Themes central to Kenneth Johnson’s work are identity and memory, anxiety and depression, mental and physical difficulties. He believes that it’s important to use photography to show that mental illness and disorders are prevalent in our society and that people are struggling. Most of his work may be categorized as self portraits, that reflects bits and pieces of himself, but they also represent a universal state of mind. He is interested in using photography as a form of therapy for others coping with mental illnesses and disorders.

To this end, his goal is to include facilitation of networking opportunities for others exploring mental health in photography, organization of art shows for education purposes, and establishment of alliances with non-profits organizations and professional art therapist for the promotion and public awareness mental health issues.
